Peel Tapes

I discovered Peel in 1985 and began taping him off the radio the following year.  And because I was an introverted weirdo with no social life, I had the time and the inclination to make covers for them, [and give them cringe-inducingly whacky titles - uh!]  These are the ones that survive.

I remember being incredibly excited by the idea of putting Letraset directly onto a cassette body.

Cover Mounted Compilations

Blimey, Grifters!  If I remember right, Lime Lizard had an amazingly glossy cover.  What were the other monthlies of that era?  I got Underground for a while (and I remember Peel being a bit sniffy about the name).

The Joy of Cassettes

Various lovingly crafted comps swapped between me and my not-yet-missus-back-then, between '87 and '92-ish.  Most of the above happen to use newspapers and mags, but the need for material for compilation tape covers was the main reason I started looking for old books in charity shops.

Note innovative use of mountboard, stuck to cassette case.  Also: Letraset!  Also: COMPILATION, not MIX TAPE.
